Fiona Passantino
(project management, art direction, design, animation)
is the managing director of Distant Train, a creative internet design company based in Amsterdam and Atlanta, GA (USA). Her background is in the fine arts and illustration, and became a multimedia specialist six years ago designing educational adventure-style computer games for young people. Today, Distant Train is known for its cutting-edge design in website development, specializing in Flash animation. Distant Train websites are instantly recognizable for their unique graphic style and unusual solutions. Fiona has also written two children's books; The Ant & the River (Dachs Verlag) in 1996 and The Internet Pet (to be launched in 2001). www.distanttrain.com
Pieter Batelaan
(project management, educational content)
Pieter Batelaan began his career in education as a Dutch teacher. Later he worked as a teacher training specialist. He is one of the founders and a former boardmember of the IAIE (International Association for Intercultural Education). Together with Barry can Driel, Pieter is the final editor of the international academic journal Intercultural Education. As an educational consultant, he is primarily responsible for the development of schools and planning, the implementation of intercultural and mutlicultural education as well as cooperative learning and complex instruction, teacher training and curriculum development. Pieter has recently become a specialist in the development of educational material for the internet. Together with Carla can Hoof, Pieter is the director of the Partners in Learning Foundation in Hilversum.
 
Barry van Driel
(educational content, research)
is the international teacher training coordinator at the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam. He gives workshops on the Holocaust, Human Rights and Intercultural/Multicultural education throughout Europe and the United States. He also gives workshops on using the internet in education, especially relating to the earlier-mentioned topics. Together with Pieter Batelaan he is the Editor-in-Chief of the international academic journal Intercultural Education.
Carla van Hoof
(educational content)
Carla van Hoof began as a teacher of Dutch and English for students in secondary school. Later she became the coordinator of the "SLIM" project, an international project based on the principles of Complex Instruction. During this and other projects, her specialization was the development of material. Carla is also the director of Van Hoof Training and Consultation and, together with Pieter Batelaan, is the co-director of the Partners in Learning Foundation. Within this framework, she also conducts afterschool activities and works as an independent educational consultant.
